The VPD are acting like any person caught committing a crime. Knee jerk statement to the wrong party (in this case, the public), desperate attempt to retract, which will be followed by an explanation of "What I MEANT was -" and a spate of officers getting counsel and clamming up. The horrific facts aside, it's actually quite funny to see the police on the wrong side of things. I bet these officers are getting a whole new education about what it is to actually be an accused.

We'll see if the Crown approves charges. I don't see how they could avoid it, on these facts. That poor man.
