I don't know if any of you subscribe to the electronic version of O.R.s, (I don't need to worry about those booklets anymore) but the O.R. that just came out contains at least 5 pages of lawyers who have been suspended administratively. They range in year of call, and I found at least two people I went to school with.
What I find even more disturbing is that in recent months, I've seen a lot of '70s, '80s and '90s calls being hauled before the LSUC tribunal for any number of things, with some being suspended for 3-9 months while others having their license 'revoked'. Costs wise, the tribunal decisions hand out $2000-$8000 in fines to lawyers like it was candy.
Anyone know what's going on? I think I saw one guy who had been practicing since 1968 being prosecuted - seriously, after 40+ years of practice, you're going to take issue with him? And no, he didn't commit fraud or anything, it was more of an administrative matter.
