I expressed my frustration that, even if I wasn't practicing in Ontario, I was still on the hook for 50% of my dues so long as I was working somewhere. $950 per year for the privilege of not practicing law in Ontario? It's a rip off, and there is absolutely no reason why they should be collecting that amount of money from people that aren't working in the province.Anyways, the rep I was speaking to suggested that I simply not pay them and let myself be administratively suspended. I couldn't tell if it was sarcasm or not, but it seems like some people took them up on the offer. I considered it, but then realized that I didn't want my name showing up on this sort of list, causing former classmates to wonder what I got "caught" doing.

Every few years when she wanted to practice law again she would pay her fees and then stop paying them and get suspended again. When I did it in 2007 the info provided by Regulus and GC was drilled into us for about 4 straight weeks.
